An inspiring challenge

for the cover of a PhD

An artistic version of the research areas for the cover of a PhD in Geosciences

This design is a co-creation with the researcher, to represent the Himalayan and Tibet mountain ranges, as well as structures at about 1000 km under the surface of the earth, his most recent discovery.

This wonderful watercolour challenge turned out to be an exciting and very rewarding adventure.

The original painting

A watercolour on rough Khadi watercolour paper, protected by a thin coat of cold wax medium, glued on a DiBond surface.

50 x 50 cm.

From a wish to the finished piece:

I chose three single-pigmented colours.

These three colours make a deep black.

An inspiring and very rewarding adventure

The process was intensive, instructive, fascinating and an honour! I loved every second of it!
